Today Boris will probably announce that instead of everything re-opening on June 21st as planned, that there is going to be a further extension. I imagine it will be another 4 weeks. I think most people are getting really fed up with their lives being restricted but equally most understand that until nearly everyone is vaccinated, there’s always a threat of another outbreak. Personally, I think we’ll have to learn to live with Covid, and that new variants as they emerge. The British drive to develop vaccines and the manufacturing facilities will help us hugely in the future to stay one step ahead of both the virus and also other countries that have not invested in vaccine development, production and distribution.

Having said all that, it’s a pain not having the freedom to travel – particularly abroad. So we will be travelling within the UK until we’re allowed to travel in Europe – and it’s safe. We managed a trip to Marazion a few weeks ago, and our daughters have booked us into a site at Polladras in Cornwall for Father’s Day weekend. As the traffic is going to be crazy, we’ll be setting off very early so we can get some miles behind us before we hit gridlock…

When we get back, we’ll be having a bit of a garden party to celebrate our wedding anniversary and a few of our friends will be coming in their vans – so we’ll be having another ‘camping at home’ experience. We have found that we are very lucky to have a house and garden that is really lovely in the Summer, with our vineyard, and the view of the Malvern’s. So we don’t need or want to be dashing off every time the weather is nice. Because that’s what everyone else does, so the roads, sites and destinations are all really crowded. We have discovered that the van is especially great for out of season breaks and, using the central heating etc., we can camp quite comfortably in the van even in December.. That way we get to see places that are a bit quieter, and we can enjoy having places to ourselves…

Anyway, that’s it for now. We’re looking forward to going away in the van this weekend. And more trips in the future, as the UK opens up properly. See you on the road. And give us a wave if you are passing (and a ‘like’ on Instagram!) Cheers!
