It’s been a few weeks since our last trip away in the van. It’s been frustrating waiting for our house to sell. The house that we wanted in Portmellon has sold to someone else so we’ve had to start looking again. We identified 4 ‘possibles’ in the Roseland area of Cornwall and thought we’d take a flying visit in order to rule them out (or in).
We booked 1 night at Carnon Downs (the site we have visited more than any other) and set off. When we got to the site, we found that our water system wasn’t working. We tried filling up the tank, but still could not get the water to come out of the tap. Something else to fix when we get home.
We used the King Harry Ferry to get to the Roseland Peninsula and drove to St Mawes. The weather was pretty miserable for most of the trip. And none of the houses we looked at really ‘wowed’ us. One cottage was a possibility – but neither of us got really excited.
So, although the house-hunting trip wasn’t a success, we did re-visit a part of the Cornwall that we like and got to see the house where ‘About Time’ was filmed. Drove home on the Sunday, a bit deflated…
